Save the State Library of Massachusetts – sign the petition
November 9, 2009
My comment on the petition to save the State Library, which you can sign at
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/saveyourstatelibrary/
As a paying member of the Haverhill MA Public Library, and rely heavily on services provided by MBLC – intranetwork transfer, database access, and an online summer reading program – to do my job, as well as entertain and educate me.
Ten years of my library career was in a library and then a region in Massachusetts – I’m now an independent consultant and MA libraries and regions are my primary clients for delivering continuing education and training. The State library’s innovative teens and tweens grant, support for summer reading, and deilvery network has immense direct impact on MA residents and taxholders that contributes to developing a literate, informed, and participatory citizenship.
Please continue to fund the state library and the support they provide to school, academic, special and public libraries across the Commonwealth.
Very truly yours,
Elizabeth S. Gallaway, library consultant & trainer
